Today, the problem of anxiety, fear, insecurity, stress, sadness, amnesia,
inertia, intoxication and pointless disputes is raising among people. This
problem is becoming a serious challenge and disease for the families too. It is
also having dire consequences on children, adults and the elderly. As a result,
people are moving away from their duties. People are suffering and fearing from
depression despite being higher educated, rich, superior and powerful.
Prominent psychiatrists, religious teachers, sociologists and academicians are
concerned about getting rid of this serious mental illness notwithstanding
their efforts to control its menace.
The problem of depression was addressed more than 5158 years ago by the world’s greatest scholar ever Lord Shri Krishna. He provided a cure from this eternal disease to his friend, disciple and great warrior Arjun through the teachings of Bhagvad Gita. Bhartiya Charitra Nirman Sansthan (BCNS) has cured many lives from this snag through the education of public conscious development and science of Karma. The experts of the entire field have acknowledged Bhagvad Gita as the mantra of salvation from this crisis.
The first chapter itself of Bhagvad Gita talks about the state of depression of Arjun. The second chapter says that depression is a result of infinite desires of the heart. While suffering from this disease, a man tries to escape from his Karma before succumbing to despondency. He gets insomnia because of fear, anxiety, stress, insecurity and unrest and seeks temporary relief from medicines. However, even if he is relieved from sleeplessness by medicines, he faces nightmares during sleep. Later, ignorance of duty engulfs the mind. The man feels offensive upon receiving advice or sympathy and leads to believe that life is meaningless.
Bhagvad Gita, in chapter seven, says that a man is the supreme being of the inanimate and conscious nature and the chief representative of God in the world. The freedom to act and the privilege of building a better future is enjoyed by man. Bhagvad Gita is a scientific and universal science. It is a very subtle yet serious and significant philosophy of welfare and reform. Faith, service, dedication, equanimity and non-attachment to actions are its means and pillars. Not only great Indian freedom fighters but also eminent political, social and financial leaders across the world have experienced the power of divine teachings of Bhagvad Gita. Therefore, a man can fight depression from within while remembering that Lord Krishna has advised man to be fear-free and to perform his duties without being attached to fruits of actions.
